Laser
uses heat to damage hair follicles and destroy the cells to reduce hair growth. It removes hair by absorbing the dark pigment producing cells at the bottom of the hair follicle and then converts the light to heat.
Laser is a great option for large areas of the body that have dark, dense hair. It reduces the hair significantly after six to ten treatments, but the area needs to be followed up with electrolysis to remove the remaining hairs and achieve permanency.
Not everyone is a candidate for laser, however. Laser is popular for removing hair on larger body areas, such as the back, underarms, and bikini line. Most often, between six and ten treatments are needed. After that, the patient is advised to remove the remaining fine hairs with electrolysis to achieve permanency. As a result, more and more people end up needing electrolysis to complete the hair removal process. Terri found herself busier than ever removing hair from individuals who may not have considered electrolysis, had they not started with laser! In the end, it was this influx of electrolysis clientele that led Terri to decide to concentrate solely on electrolysis and put laser on hold.
